THE BRIEFA place to set the day down.
Our client is a social worker. She spends her days showing up for other people, and she wanted a living room she could come home to and finally rest in. She is organized and deeply spiritual, and she loves earthy colors. She asked for a room that reflected all three and felt calm the moment she walked in.
THE challengeOne wall, a window,
and a door.
The room came with what most new apartments have: gray floors, white blinds, and plain walls. None of it said anything about her.
The main wall held both a large window and the balcony door, so the seating had to keep the door clear while keeping the window as the focus. Strong Florida sun filled the room for much of the day, bright enough to work against a space meant for rest.
She needed the opposite of a long day: a room where nothing asked for her attention.
OUR APPROACH Every piece chosen
for how she restores.
01
Planned for flow.
We placed the sectional in the corner by the window, with nesting side tables in place of a bulky coffee table. The path to the balcony door stays open, and the room never feels crowded.
02
Layered & soft.
Sheer linen sits behind textured gray drapes on one long, high, wide brass rod. The sheers soften the Florida sun, and the drapes add height and weight to the wall.
03
Clean & chosen.
A seated brass figure by the window, a geode on the shelf, living plants, and design books she reaches for. Edited shelves and a clean console keep the room as organized as she is.
the resultA deep sectional to sink into, daylight filtered through linen, and the things that matter to her within reach.
