Design that sees the total person
A well-designed room does more than please the eye. It changes how a body moves through a day, how a nervous system settles by evening, how a family gathers without friction. At Christy Yates Interiors, we start with the person who will live or work inside a space, then build every decision outward from there.

Home has always meant more to me than four walls and beautiful furniture. It is where a day gets put down at the door, where families gather, and where a child grows up remembering the light in one particular room. That belief built Christy Yates Interiors.
Before I ever chose a fabric or drew a floor plan, I spent more than twenty years in mental and public health, studying how the built environment shapes the way we think, rest, regulate stress, and recover. As a DrPH candidate researching neuroaesthetics and restorative design, I bring that same curiosity to every project: how a room feels by late afternoon, how a layout supports an already full day, and what it takes for a space to truly fit the people who use it.
Today, I lead a nationwide interior design practice creating deeply personal homes and wellness spaces designed around how people live, work, and restore.
When I am not on a job site, you will usually find me in an antique shop with my husband or on the floor with our Shih Tzu, Magic.

A room where your shoulders drop the moment you walk through the door.
We start with you — not the room
Before we select furnishings or finishes, we take the time to understand how you live, what matters most, and how you want your home to feel.
Because great design isn't just about creating a beautiful room. It's about creating a home that supports the life unfolding within it.
Let's create a home you'll love living in.
How we work together.
Our approach starts with understanding you—your routines, your frustrations, and what isn’t working. Then we design solutions that make daily life easier and the whole home feel cohesive, thoughtful, and functional.
Here’s how it works.
-
We start with you. How you live, what isn't working, and what you need your home to feel like.
-
We translate everything we've learned into a clear, intentional design plan — layout, color, flow, and selections all guided by your life.
-
We fine-tune the details together. This is where we review selections, adjust what isn't quite right, and make sure every element feels intentional before anything is ordered or installed.
-
We manage the moving parts — vendors, timelines, orders, and coordination, so you don't have to. You stay informed without being overwhelmed.
-
We bring it all to life. Every piece placed, every detail considered. You walk in and it's done — exactly the way we envisioned it together.
-
We don't just hand you a beautiful space and walk away. Every client receives a personalized Restorative Living Guide — curated product recommendations, color and lighting notes, simple practices for maintaining flow, and everything you need to keep your space feeling the way it did on day one.
frequently asked questionsAnswers, simply.
-
Our approach begins with human experience. We consider beauty and function alongside how people move, connect, focus, restore, and experience a space, creating environments thoughtfully designed around the people they serve.
-
Restorative design considers how an environment can support the people who experience it. It looks beyond aesthetics to consider factors such as function, sensory experience, connection, comfort, and opportunities for restoration. At CYI, we use this lens alongside our design expertise to create spaces that are both beautiful and responsive to human needs.
-
We design residential interiors as well as wellness and hospitality environments, including med spas, wellness practices, and boutique hospitality spaces. We also offer virtual design for clients nationwide.
-
We specialize in wellness and hospitality environments where people come to restore. This includes med spas, wellness practices, spas, and other experience-driven businesses. We work with owners and project teams to create environments that balance beauty, function, wellbeing, and the needs of the people who use them.

Yes. CYI works with clients locally and nationwide through virtual design, remote consulting, and travel for select residential and commercial projects.

Every project is different. Timeline depends on scope, material availability, and contractor schedules. We'll provide a realistic timeline during your consultation based on your specific project needs.
-
Every project is different, and investment varies based on scope, size, furnishings, materials, construction, and the level of service required. During the discovery process, we'll discuss your goals and anticipated investment so we can determine the right scope and service for your project.
